This is my contents page layout, I have chosen to have the title at the top of the page so that the reader can tell straight away that it is the contents page. Down the right hand side of my page is the list of Storys that are going to be in my magazine i have chosen to do this so that the reader reads the anouncements and results from the playlist votes before they find out whats in the rest of the magazine.

My Final Cover

This is what the final cover of my magazine looks like. I have chose to have the title 'Your Ouick Read' at the to of my page, this is so it is the first thing the audience see. I decided to call my magazine this because as it is a college magazine it has stories that the students would be interested in, most of these would be short stories that the students can read during lessons. The mains story in my magazine is about a first year boy who wins a cookery competition, as this is my main story the font is
different and is also bigger than the rest of the writing, this is because it is the second most important thing for the audience to see, i have also chosen to have this writing in a different colour to the rest of the writing on my front page, because i want it to stand out and grab peoples attention. Although all the little story headlines are in the same colour, they still stand out alot against the background of the picture, because it is still important for the audience to see them. I have put them one on top of the other, so that the readers eye is lead on to the next headline, there is also enough space betweenthem that you can tell that they are each different storys. the picture i have used fills up the whole of the background this is because it is related to the main story.

Flat Plan

this is my flat plan, my first design of my magazine cover. i have chosen to call my magazine 'Your Quick Read' so students can get all the hot news in between lessons. the image on the front of my magazine is of a boy who has just won a cookery competiton. i have a headline above telling the reader what is going on in the picture. down the right hand side of my magazine i have all the other little storys that are inside my magazine.

A Photograph i Wouldnt use

I am not using this image for my front cover because the persin is leaning foward and pointing a pen at the camera. This is not a good image to use as the person hasnt got a clear expression on his face. Therefore the audience wont be able to relate at all to the photograph.

The Photograph I Am Using For My Magazine

i have chosen this image to be the photo on the front cover of my magazine, because the person is in the centre of the shot and the shot is straight on, i have dont this because if the photograph was taken from below it would make him look intimidating to the audience. Also if the shot was taken from above, it would make him seem submissive. Also there is a clear background behind him, so he is the only person in the focus. From this picture the audience would think that the person in the picture is happy, and in my magazine he has just won a prize

Preliminary Task

For my preliminary task I am going to create a front cover for a new college magazine. I am going to be designing it in Adobe InDesign, my magazine cover will also include pictures, which I can edit in Adobe Photoshop. Aswell as a frount cover I am going to design the contents page for this magazine.
